| Lower Empire is a great winter crag - South-facing and sheltered from the prevailing winds you can climb in a t-shirt here in January if the sun's out. All routes were fully re-equipped in April 2010. 1 The Iron Curtain 7a * Alternative start to The Running Man which used to start behind the fence. Great moves on the traverse. 2 Flatliners 6c+ * Good moves through roof. 3 Wipe Out 7a * Long reach on the lip. 4 Nursery Crimes 6c+ * | 5 Bodysnatchers 7a * 6 Cradlesnatchers 6c ** Good well-protected roof climbing on big holds. 7 Going Through the Motions 7a * 8 A Prize to Arms 7a+ * |

1.senail dimention. 7a+/7b 25m. Start as for 'Nursery Crimes' until you reach the flat ledge at the 3rd bolt. Then follow the obvious horizontal break rightwards finishing up 'Prize for Arms'. Alternative starts can be made at 'Flatliners' or 'Wipeout' at which a hands off rest can be made before embarking on the traverse. Starting at 'Nursery Crimes' provides a more sustained arm bursting experience.
2.who 8 my breos? F6c. 20m. A more ameanable proposition finishing up 'Going Through The Motions'. No real hard moves just great sustained climbing. Same alternative starts can be made as above at the same grade. |
